Age Concern Wairarapa delivers a number of services that aim to achieve many positive outcomes for older people in the Wairarapa community. Our areas of service include Eketahuna, Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, Featherston, and Martinborough. This includes all residents and older people living between these towns.

We offer the following services:

Whakarite Torotoro | Visiting Service

This service provides regular visits by a volunteer to an older person who is lonely and would benefit from more social interaction. Visits are well suited to older person who has limited ability to attend social gatherings outside of their home. Find out more >

This is a service that facilitates friendships across all ages, bringing people together in groups of common interest and with the opportunity to talk, share skills and their stories. Find out more >

LifeCurve

LifeCurve is an easy to use app that can help people to age well. It measures how people are ageing and shows ways for people to improve their own abilities. Find out more >

Te Takakino Kaumatua | Elder Abuse Response Service

This service works to improve the quality of life of older people in abusive situations and prevent abuse by providing information, education, advocacy and support. Abuse is recognised in a number of ways including physical, emotional or psychological, financial and sexual. Find out more >

Kori Tinana | Exercise Classes

Our exercise programmes are focused on maximising physical and mental health, and well-being. With three different class types to choose from, there is something for everyone. Classes include Steady as You Go, Keep Fit and Line Dancing and a weekly walking group. Find out more >

Whakawhanaunga | Social Outings

Coffee mornings are held monthly in Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, Featherson and Martinborough and offer a friendly and social gathering for older people. The group enjoys listening to topics of interest from invited speakers. We also offer trips and outings to a variety of places around Wairarapa, Wellington and Palmerston North areas. Taraiwa Awhina | Driver support

We offer two education programmes aimed at supporting older drivers and improving their confidence and safety on the roads. We offer an excellent range of information and support for older people who are renewing their driver’s licence or for those who are no longer driving. Find out more >

Life Tubes

Life Tubes are available from Age Concern Wairarapa. A Life Tube is a small pottle containing your personal information such as emergency contact person and current medications. These may be accessed by emergency services in case of accident or illness. Find out more >

Manaaki te katoa | Be kind to all
