Whakapiringa Tangata

Buddy Up! is a community-focused programme that brings together people of all ages (and maybe animal friends as well) based on their common interests or skills. Friendship groups are formed over time and provide fabulous opportunities for social interaction on many levels.

You can get involved with Buddy up! in a number of ways:

  • Start a new group
  • Join an existing group
  • Become a local coordinator

The joys of belonging to a Buddy Up! group include:

  • Rekindle an old interest
  • Learn something new
  • Work alongside others
  • Teach others
  • Encourage improvers
  • Chat, research, watch or read

A Buddy Up! group is initially lead by a coordinator for the first ten weeks. They will assist the members to get the programme up and running. During this time, the coordinator will support one (or two) of the members to become a “Champion” and assist them towards operating and developing the group after the first ten weeks. The coordinator will offer ongoing support to the Champion.
