Volunteer Board Member – Secretary
Age Concern Wairarapa
We are seeking a Board Member – Secretary to support the governance and administration of our charity. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute your skills and make a meaningful difference in the community. The term of this role is until elections at the next Annual General Meeting in Sept/Oct 2026.
Time Commitment
· Approximately 6 hours per month
· Attendance at one monthly board meeting (including preparation and follow‑up)
Key Responsibilities
· prepare and maintain a record of the agenda and minutes of all Board Meetings AGMs and SGMs and shall circulate these to those members entitled to receive them;
· be responsible for the maintenance of a Register of Members in accordance with the Act;
· receive and reply to correspondence on behalf of the Society as appropriate; and
· file or cause to be filed all required documents with the Registrar and Charities Services.
Skills and Experience Required
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and basic document management)
· Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
· Reliable, professional, and able to work independently
Eligibility Requirements
· Member of Age Concern Wairarapa
· Police check required
· Nomination by financial member of Age Concern Wairarapa required
This role would suit someone with administrative experience who is looking to give back to the community and gain or use governance experience in a supportive, values‑driven environment.
